In exactly one hour and 20 minutes it’s National Donut Day! That will most likely change by the time I finish writing this post. I’m super excited I can hardly sleep! What a great holiday right? Here’s post one of two for National Donut Day. The next post will be coming at ya tomorrow morning so stay tuned! Today’s project was taking a styrofoam cone I found in the fake flower section and turning it into an awesome and delicious donut tower! This is great for parties or weddings and totally makes donut holes look way cooler.
I promise this is easier than it looks. I bought store bought donut holes and glazed them light and dark pink and then used powdered donuts for the top. If you look closely at the picture above you’ll see a sneak peak of tomorrow’s post as well! Basically, once the glaze hardens you’re just sticking toothpicks on and sticking them on the styrofoam cone! Easy!
Ombré Donut Hole Tower
When you make the tower it worked best for me to stick the toothpick in first. It was hard to stick the toothpick in the donut hole and then in the styrofoam because the donut would break. Just space them using your judgement and you can always move them if they aren’t close enough together. I tried to squish my donut holes a little bit so that there weren’t too many holes where you could see the styrofoam. I used some fake flowers to make the tower look pretty and to help fill in any small holes. Try not to eat too many while making this! I’d love to see your donut tower creations so be sure to hashtag #sprinkledpink on any pictures you put up! Also, check out how to make delicious cake donuts while you’re on your donut making spree!
