Who loved pop tarts as a kid? I think I was trying to re-live my childhood while making these. I put blueberry and peach jam inside these ones but as a kid I enjoyed all of the chocolate pop tarts. Or the cinnamon sugar, those were delicious too. I also realized while I was making these that pop tarts are literally just mini hand pies! I made mine in heart shapes because I’m already in Valentine’s Day mode but you can make these rectangle shaped to really re-live your childhood. Just pop one in your toaster oven and it’s the perfect sweet breakfast!
Heart Shaped Pop Tarts
So I wanted to eat my pop tart warm. All I did was put a frosted pop tart in my toaster oven for 3 minutes. It came out perfectly! Warm and the icing melted just enough that it wasn’t messy. You can also eat them cold…or with a scoop of ice cream…or whipped cream…just trying to keep the options open. I loved the blueberry ones. It was that wild blueberry homemade jam with real blueberries in it. Get the good stuff if you’re gonna make these because it’s so yummy! I have yet to try the peach ones but I’m sure they’re just as good! I’d love to see the different variations of these you make! I made mini apple pie hearts last year for Thanksgiving. These pop tarts are a great way to start off your New Year diet right? Enjoy!
